Description

The image was painted in Photoshop using a Wacom tablet :)

... oh and by the way, it's not a paint-over... I'm sure most people would imagine that.
I have tutorials on digital painting for those interested so feel free to buy them or whatever if you don't believe I painted this.

I am interested only in constructive comments :)

I can see this picture making a nice discussion theme.
To be completely honest, I think itīs a paintover. I can believe itīs not, thatīs only photoshop, but Iīd need the reference image for that. You could leave the link on your comments.

Cloth painting can improve. You have made too good hair and near the t-shirt and hat i'see the difference.

I believe this sentence nicely suggests the tone for further discussion:
"I have tutorials on digital painting for those interested so feel free to buy them or whatever if you don't believe I painted this."

"chickenfingers"... that sentence suggests exactly what I want it to suggest :) this wouldn't be the first time people choose not to believe my images are made the way I say they are made. I've been through... " hey, this is is not a painting or 3D or whatever... this is a photo"... before and that is one of the reasons I made my tutorials so people can see how I make my images.

So, yes... feel free to buy them or not, it's not like I force anyone :)

No comment on wether or not this is a paint-over. I wanna just to say that.. you could have painted a little different/better so people won't suspect it's a paintover if it's not. :p ;)
Good job on the colors and hair. I would have choosen a different lightsource that is more flattering for his face. Right now there's a bit too much attention on the nose.

SandraS - painting it different/ better would just make more people believe this is a paintover or a photo :) I know that because it happened to me before many many times

zombie - I don't see how the reference picture would make anyone understand this is not a paint over.... maybe to show a few steps of how I made the image, that would help but well... haha thats just me

The light-source is mostly what suggests that it's a paintover. Most people don't intentionally choose to paint a harsh, over-exposed light-source. Why you would is a mystery.

Why not post some WIPs or something?

Most of your "tutorials" look like they're just teaching people how to paint-over poser models. You'll find cheap fame is a lot easier to come by on deviantART -- the people there are mostly a bunch of mindless drones.

Byonder - I chose to paint that kind of light because I liked it like that, it looks "real" to me and it is what you will see in real life.
I am not interested in fame, cheap or not and I did not make those tutorials to get that so called fame, I made them for people like you who cannot believe I can make this kind of images :)

Also, I did not make those tutorials for deviantart which is very obvious since there is just a link to where my tutorials really are :)

Also my paint clothes tutorials are about painting clothes over poser models but painting clothes from scratch so I really don't see how the poser models would help in any way in that case :)

sorry red but I think this also looks like a paintover. Can you show a link with stages?
don't get me wrong, it is still very good work. I am just curious as to how you make it look so real.

At the very least, if this is not a paintover, it looks too much like you must have sampled colours directly from a photo. Also, this is not quite the right attitude to handle such matters -- with empty claims and dismissing people's opinions with inane "that's the way I do it/ like it" remarks. You will find that most people who choose to paint or draw realistically will provide references and progress steps at some point or another, and that simply ends the dispute.
I am not one to begin trolling someone about whether they've overpainted something or not -- it's very harassing, but I do have some experience in digital painting and believe I can see some things for what they are. The same goes for many other people here on GFX. Deceiving people will only damage you in the long run.

Eilidh - I do not dismiss people's opinions saying "that's the way I do it or like it" but I don't appreciate silly ( to say the least ) sentences like this: "Most people don't intentionally choose to paint a harsh, over-exposed light-source. Why you would is a mystery"..... as soon as I get to read them :)
That makes no sense at all... if most people choose to paint a certain kind of light , over exposed or not... it doesn't mean I have to do the same so to get remarks like.... "Why you would is a mystery"... it's at least rude.

As far as the progress steps goes: I will show a step by step work in progress and hopefully that will calm down certain people and they will be able to concentrate on constructive critiques :)

You don't have to "teach" me what to do, like I already said, this is not the first time certain people choose to react like this when I post an image. Thanks for your suggestions anyways.
